CACP Annual Conference 2017

From the Mayor

It is an honour for the City of Montréal to be playing host to the 112^th edition of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Annual Conference, from July 16 to 19, 2017. Over the course of these four days, senior managers from different police services will gather under the theme of “Policing in a digital society: risks and opportunities.” This topic is especially important for Montréal, one of the smartest cities in the world.

It is my strong belief that the issues raised during this conference are in line with the security concerns expressed by the population, in an era where digital use is growing and new technologies attract all sorts of criminals and scammers.

Because commercial trading also depends on cyber-safety, this conference is of course of utmost importance for the development of our companies. I would like to mark the initiative of the CACP, who chose Montréal to discuss the major cyber-safety issues of the future.

I would also like to salute the work of everyone participating in this conference, who will come up with solutions to develop safe ways for the society of the future to exchange in cyberspace.

On behalf of myself and all citizens, welcome participants—we hope you will enjoy your stay in Québec’s metropolis.

I hope you will use this opportunity to take in the culture Montréal is known for—ranking it among the capitals of creativity and innovation—and join into the celebrations marking the 375^th anniversary of its founding. It’s an event not to be missed!
